Ugh, pollen. Here it's juniper; apparently we exceeded 2000 grains per cubic meter of air on April 25, and I don't know much about these measurements but my eyes, nose, and throat sure do!
Because our house has so many large windows, we have a problem with birds flying into the windows and either temporarily stunning themselves, or killing themselves (fortunately only for a few weeks in the spring and in the fall). At the sound of a bump Lucy runs immediately to the window and starts making the chitter noise that means "I see prey and I want it!" She also does this when there are birds outside doing birdy things, which means, a lot of the time.
