Sigh, apparently I reply to comments verrrry slowwwly. Anyway, I'd already discovered the lovely lettrine package! Not settled on a font yet, though--I don't know if I have the fortitude to figure out how to use a non-installed one. Actually my favorite font when I use LibreOffice is Constantia, but that one doesn't seem easily available in LaTeX, either.

Hee, I've grown quite fond of the 18th century orthographic conventions. : )

No, I can't think of an equivalent word to "kludge" in Swedish!
