High-value Snark and Fabric Designs

Many smart writers are urging me to avoid BLACK & WHITE, a newish film with very old fashioned white family values. My favorite is Ijeoma Oluo in Seattle's alt weekly The Stranger
begin quote You guys, for all that happens in the movie, this is the only part that tugged at my heartstrings. Because not once, not a single time in this movie that appears to span weeks, does anybody comb this poor child’s hair. quote ends

Almost every wheelchair user is admonished to "drink plenty of fluids." But as New Mobility blogger Tiffiny points out, every single rigid wheelchair cupholder breaks, mostly sooner, not later. Fortunately she encountered a sewing designer with a brilliant approach to an all-fabric cupholder. In other words, the drink or bottle takes care of its own rigidity. Here Melly Sews's design, aimed at experience sewers.

I'm fond of this clip-on cup holder which, if it gets bumped, tends to swivel around rather than breaking. Plus you can unclip it very easily (for me, and I have hand pain/grip strength issues) and stash it in your hand bag when you're not using it.

Yes, it grabs the padded armrest of my powerchair no problems. Oh, and it's rated to hold up to 1kg of stuff.

I klip it onto the end of the non-joystick arm so that it extends the arm slightly - that means it doesn't make my powerchair footprint wider at all, which is good for me what with narrow lifts and narrow doorways.

Drawbacks, hmm...

- remembering to take it with you if you don't routinely keep it attached to your powerchair

- takes up space in your hand bag if you're not using it

...that's all I can think of

When I broke my leg in 2000, my brother built me an AWESOME cupholder for my walker (and then for my crutches :D) out of duct tape - I should write up a tutorial for it, becuase it was really pretty ingenious- it might be a nice alternative for people who like the design of the fabric one but lack the sewing skills.

I'll pick up a roll today so I can make a tutorial. :D

Yes! The new variety was great when I was getting our bags ready for Florida, so I could tape distinguishing marks on them.
