Signal Boost: Effective Community Organizing
I've been privileged to hear Mia Mingus speak three days in a row. Among other topics, she emphasized how important trust is in the relationship between organizer and community. If you haven't read her blog, do it now!

Mingus' ideas set me thinking about trust at work, and that led to the Black Panthers' free breakfast programs--seeing a need, serving the need. Creating community support by providing community support. Reminding me how the Black Panther's food supply made the 25-day occupation of the Federal HUD office possible. That occupation forced the Feds to implement the first disability rights regulations.

In my ultra-segregated town, the Young Gifted & Black Coalition formed in response to Ferguson, BlackLivesMatter and in particular the fatal shooting of Tony Robinson, a Madison teenager.
