Outstanding comic about a poor, too-young-for-roller-derby woman who gets a chance to play for her favorite team. That alone would be great, but it's set on a future Mars in the process of terraforming (author acknowledges her debt to Kim Stanley Robinson's works). The expressive and detailed art supports her vision of the unrestrained exploitation of a planet carried out by indentured workers.

Ooh, must get my hands on Transcendent -- just one question; is there any weird take on bisexuality? I read a book about a trans girl written by a trans woman, and the evil bisexual trying to destroy the girl made me somewhat wary...

I certainly don't remember any, and I'm bi as well so sensitive to that issue, but my swiss-cheese memory means I can't promise it will be bi-bias-free.
