I have lived in numerous coop/communal living situations. I met MyGuy in a 40-person former sorority, and then over eleven years tapered down to just-us-two. I imagine/assume/hope that I'll live in "co-housing" when I've outlived MyGuy (it's an older-woman thing). When it's good, community living is wonderful, especially in our long dark winters. But when it's bad, I wish I could rely on something this silly to drag me out of the dumps:

I've long thought Martin Freeman* was a snappy dresser. But now I know even more: he is "a dandy." The Slate article about a new dandy portrait book finally rang the bell: From this charming photo essay, embracing one's dandyness involves significant expense, pride in self, and (generally) shorter stature.
