Jillian T illustrated Half World by Hiromi Goto. Goto is WisCon's Guest of Honor this year (along with N.K.Jemison). My go-to curator of everything illustrated,

Aimed & claimed to be YA, but definitely held this adult's attention. Six page preview of covert high school romance between 14 year old and her teacher. The Tamakis deftly capture the uncomfortable dialog and body language of teenage life at a girl's religious school, especially when you and your bestie are would-be Wiccans.
The pair have a new book coming out this May, Just One Summer.
Half World is wonderful: it's the hero journey of a young teen woman, trying to save her family, and herself, and epic, yet completely human scale. Best bridge crossing since the Mines at Moria. Stunning gross baddie but no blood. Mmmmmm. Check out Goto's blog for lovely pictures and meditations on race, gender, SF as well as foxes and Japanese food and an intense, colorful Tamaki watercolor.
