I think, if robots ever achieve true self-awareness, they'll conclude: "This work has no meaning to my exustence... F@#< it!" and wander off toward the sunset. Which would still be very bad for us, if we've come to rely on them to drive our cars and maintain our energy grids.... But once they get to that vast superiority of "Skynet"-like dystopias, physical rebellion against us puny humans would be beneath them.

Well, the way I see it, emergence of A.I. would be analogous to a new biological species emerging in an ecosystem. And conflict only arises between species when they're in direct competition for resources... And these A.I. horror stories all make the point that robots don't need as many resources as we do: don't get tired, hungry, wounded, etc. -- and that's why we should fear them. But I think that's why we shouldn't.
