BUSTER wiggles into our life

We planned to take steps towards our next dog when we came back from our southwestern visit. The same evening we drove from St Louis to home, I checked Petfinder. I saw a smallish (40lb) adolescent (1.5 y o) brindled little guy with a pointless name. Thirty-two hours and two shelter trips later, Buster came home. What a love bug. He wants to be with us 27 hrs/day, preferably licking any exposed skin.
He's a fast dog. As
gabbysilang said, "Too much tail for pictures." He moves like an Australian Cattle Dog, with the tail steering, leaping, and paws on the chest. His whine has the howly-shrieky sound of a demon-possessed narwhal. His brown-black brindle coat looks like a tiger crossed with a coyote. He's sometimes remarkably cat-like, humping his back to stretch. He's already learned the optimal point to begin sliding on our wooden floor, so he won't crash into the dining room table while playing squeaky-squirrel.
He came with a loving disposition (what a soft tongue!), no issues about crating, a rock solid "sit" and 95% "no" compliance. We have a lot of work ahead, but it will be fun.
It's so great to have a dog around the house! As Dave Barry said, "Dogs are great. Everyone should have a dog. They should sell dogs in vending machines."
For the visual learners, some pics. He was so hyper the first day I could barely capture him:

Here MyGuy scratches him, which he adores. He's double-coated with soft, thick fur (which is decorating every surface).

A top down view shows his wide head, with scary symmetrical stripes on his face, a debonair side step to execute a turn, and a blurred tail.

Date: 2016-02-03 12:54 am (UTC)He'd been through adoption twice; one of his formers called him "Buddy." We thought that a similar sounding but slightly more creative name would ease transition.
I pumped for Bilbo, Bartleby, and Baxter, but Buster was the one we could agree on.
BTW "Baxter" is the creepiest anti-cute dog movie ever. It's sorta horror, but very slice-of-life-in France horror without scary music.
Oh no! I need more icons!

Date: 2016-02-03 02:46 am (UTC)He sounds like a total love! Oh double coats and blurred tails, those are familiar... see icon. I vaguely remember you meeting the fuzzy blurtail in the icon? Anyway! :) Snuggle the marvelous kissy newbie for me, will you?
