It's 7:08 Central Daylight Time. The ~4inches of snow are still reflecting brightly through our windows.
I have survived another winter. Hooray.
What's your favorite winter memory?
A favorite: I'd asked for a random day off from work in the middle of February, and then it snowed a couple of days beforehand. I went to the zoo anyway, because it was a fine sunny day.
I didn't quite have the Bronx Zoo to myself that day, but instead of crowds around the sea lion pool, there were about five of us, and when I got to the snow leopards I was alone. They were curled up, 1-2-3-4, on a small patch of clear rock, rather than in the snow.
Winter's not over til next week, right? It's supposed to rain again, first.
my favorite wintry memories always include ones of standing outdoors when snow is coming down in many big, fat flakes. The silences and the smells are good.
Oh the silences. My favorite silence memory was when I lived at 225 E Lakelawn (Martha's Coop, at the time) and I walked a quarter-mile towards the center of Lake Mendota. The city noise was replaced by this eerie moaning from the ice.
I loved being in the barn, the sheep munching their hay, everything quiet. The snow coming down and the light sort of pink from reflected outdoor lights. Things snug and safe.

Thank you for answering my burning question:
