kestrell at Wiscon, and she introduced me to the old-world artistry of ocular prosthetics.
It turns out one of the three ocular prosthetic makers in Wisconsin is a local hero. The process is fascinating:

(Although the artisans who make mechanical fingers for quadriplegics and custom shoes for folks with different leg lengths are getting scarcer all the time.)
