I had the good fortune to meet kestrell at Wiscon, and she introduced me to the old-world artistry of ocular prosthetics.

This is the ocularist a friend of mine in town goes to, or rather went to until late last year. Absolutely lovely person by all accounts, to the point that there was serious consideration given to her adopting my friend's retiring guide dog. :) I know she was bummed when she found out the practice was being sold!

Three in the entire state of Wisconsin... I did not even realize. Wow.

Definitely need better geographic coverage.

In a different life I could have done this, having a bit of graphic skill and adoring hand-work. Don't think a 3D printer can compete. (Although the artisans who make mechanical fingers for quadriplegics and custom shoes for folks with different leg lengths are getting scarcer all the time.)
