Date: 2012-01-28 03:19 am (UTC)When Andrew Carnegie was polishing his robber-baron image by spreading money all over the U.S. to fund free public libraries, books and maps were truly too expensive for the "average working person." Now a net connection and an e-reader put uncountable things within almost-reach, not to mention the fabulous free things already on tap.
I can't imagine there are any easy answers available! (But the Amazon billionaire could certainly afford to donate a whole passel of Kindles for public library use.)
