Many thanks to [personal profile] jjhunter, who's hosting a thrilling words and deeds love meme. Standard love memes make me nervous: why would I be appreciated for who I am? I can, however, handle praise for what I've done. (Mayhaps the former unease brought to me by lack of parental approval?) At any rate, my name's on the list.

Words and Deeds Love Meme 3: May 31st - June 13th; Hosted by J.J. Hunter at Dreamwidth

Among the wonderful WisCon 37 panels I attended was "When 'Love Your Body' Isn't Enough." Details to come when I'm done resting. Still resting. The panel did put me in mind of this marvelous poem, the first to alert me to the dangers of the mind/body split

Question by May Swenson courtesy of the Poetry Foundation
Body my house
my horse my hound
what will I do
when you are fallen

Where will I sleep
How will I ride
What will I hunt

Where can I go
without my mount
all eager and quick
How will I know
in thicket ahead
is danger or treasure
when Body my good
bright dog is dead

How will it be
to lie in the sky
without roof or door
and wind for an eye

With cloud for shift
how will I hide?

Oh, I like that poem, especially the animal imagery. Although I do tend to think of the mind as something inherent in the body.
