The sidewalks come in two varieties: outstanding and hellscapes. More on this with pictures.
Swam in Highland Pool–nice community facility that’s been renovated every decade. Friendly folks, 82° but no lockers.
Walked the perimeter of Roosevelt Park, a gentle bowl. After 11am it’s a disc-golf course, but before then it’s a free-range dog park (no fences).
La Montañita Food Coop, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Smiths, 999 Seafood for our food needs. So far home cooking except for:
2000 Vietnam1 had good reviews, but food was nothing special. My “shrimp spring roll with shrimp paste” contained three slices of pork, a ton of noodles, and a few sprigs of cilantro. Multiple signs warned “no returns on incorrect orders!” so I ate it (spring roll, not the sign). Mango smoothie with boba was tongue pleasing. Meh Pho. Housed in a former gas station; the garage is now an emissions-testing joint.
Wandered on the Bosque a little–fabulous place, going back again soon.
999 Seafood was a huge chain grocery building now owned by Vietnamese residents. Every sort of Asian item–including Asian sweet potatoes2. Was feeling tea-venturous and got 170g loose leaf oolong, 20 bags white peony, 20 bags oolong: $9.69 total.
Sadly, I can’t tolerate chile peppers (capsicum), so most of the New Mexican cuisine is off my palate. In fact, we’re planning on having dinner at Waffle House tonight, just because we can. (Hash on potatoes. Mmmmmm.)
