Health Update on our lovely dog Bella

It doesn't rain it pours.
On Monday she didn’t want to eat, and was drinking a lot of water. We made a vet appointment for Tuesday. Tuesday AM she was sluggish, and her feet splayed out from under her when she tried to stand. The vet said to take her to the ER, where MyGuy carried her in.
They’ve done the first round of testing: she has severe anemia and is getting transfused. She’s on UW's internal veterinary medicine service and they’re doing more imaging/testing to see why her body’s destroying her blood.
She's perked up enough to have charmed all the people she's met along the way. More news this afternoon after she’s the subject of grand rounds, and we get to visit.
We’re doing okay right now, and we’ll reach out if we need help. We’re so grateful that we have a vet school in town. Interacting with them has been wonderful: they’re much more skilled at communicating than human doctors. Treating a pet’s serious illness is constantly complicated by the need to discuss costs. We’re lucky that’s not an issue for us.
Hug your dogs/cats/friends.
