While eating lunch, I brainstormed pitches for Hanukkah / Jewish Christmas movies that would be more interestingly and distinctively Jewish than these two. https://t.co/emiq2JxqaL

Finally, I maintain that the reverse of one of the ones they're actually airing makes WAY more sense. A Jewish woman who works as a high school teacher (and thus gets two weeks off) is hounded into coming home for the duration by her mom.
(Hanukkah not normally being a "visit the family" sort of holiday except you have to visit them at some point and you get time off around the Christian holiday.)
She was supposed to introduce them to her boyfriend, only he breaks up with her right before they're going to travel, and instead of telling her mom this, she hires an actor to play her boyfriend.
Only, of course the boyfriend was Jewish; the actor is not. Hilarity ensues as he has no freaking clue how to do Hanukkah, and also there's a lot of Christmas traditions he thought were universal (and aren't).
Despite this, they fall quickly in love. Possibly he also falls in love with Jewish traditions and converts.
