The 44th WisCon was scheduled for the Concourse Hotel here in Madison over Memorial Day Weekend. They’ve swerved to an online iteration. Here’s your chance to try out WisCon and see if you like it.

roadrunnertwice has been busy updating our elderly codebase right and left. They’d love to have mobile users, particularly Android, find problems with the latest code push.

We've probably all heard about tops and bottoms, but why not expand this into the rest of the quark family so we have six options to play with? A character can be not only top or bottom, but also up, down, strange, or charm. (Some sources even call top and bottom truth and beauty, respectively!)

There are lots of ways to define the concept "butch." That's one of the ways. And I understand why she doesn't claim it.

And that's why the article is such a mess. It tries to address so many of the definitions and connotations and doesn't really give justice to most of them. Buuut most conversations I've had about butchness have been equally messy.

TBF, I’m don’t expect nuance from the NYTimes, like ever.

While they’ve published some great pieces — the disability op-ed series has impressed me —I count on the NYT to provide the striving-to-be-ruling-class perspective from a liberal viewpoint.

And yet I can imagine reading this as a 10 yr old baby butch and feeling seen.

Absolutely on all counts.

BTW, the person I live with just read the Bechdel quote and quipped "It's so much easier to draw butch characters than to live as one." I suppose that's one takeaway! (That could lead into a conversation about which of the Dykes to Watch Out For are butch. Which could get...you guessed it...messy!)
