These comic-book style glasses frames evoke a cartoonist with a wide pen. Two true circles around each eye continue the 3/8" flat surface, The body is purple, gently overlain with green dots -- a handful at the bottom to 60% coverage at the top.

Date: 2021-04-09 11:41 pm (UTC)I'm sorely tempted, but pals have had issues with the lens quality from these folks (Ulla in Hilldale) and I'm all about the lens quality.

Date: 2021-04-09 11:40 pm (UTC)Definitely fun, also available as a purple to fuchsia gradient, JIC I needed something even louder.

Date: 2021-04-09 11:39 pm (UTC)Yep! Also amazingly overpriced -- $679 just for the frames. So fun to contemplate but I don't think they'll be appeared in an icon near you any time soon.

Date: 2021-04-11 07:04 pm (UTC)My best-fit-so-far glasses are 42 ☐ 24, which are just on the outside of the kiddie lines.

Date: 2021-04-11 11:38 pm (UTC)And yours are probably a lot less breakable than mine. (This all started because my daily glasses in icon broke and are no longer made.)
Ah, you have the tiny bridge size! I've got a bigger bridge because a) eyes are further apart and b) I need squishy "cushion eye pads" so the weight of my super thick lenses don't drill holes in my nose.
Which of course leads to a site claiming to replace any nose pads with an aftermarket no-pressure design. I'm dubious.

Date: 2021-04-14 05:25 pm (UTC)...I wish I could use the online optical folks!
My single vision eyeglass have more than 10 diopters correction, astigmatism and prism. I'm relieved that Zenni and WarbyParker, at least, are ethical enough to say "nope, we don't fulfill complicated prescriptions like yours."
ETA: Whoops! I followed your handy tour of green glasses, and saw that Zenni now does claim to fill prescriptions like mine. I shall investigate further!
Re: Ahhhhh
Date: 2021-04-14 08:05 pm (UTC)While I, personally, have been mostly satisfied with my orders from them, a lot of that is accepting that my Rx is cheap enough (and I pick cheap enough frames) that I am willing to accept unhappy purchases as a loss. I merge their cost in with savings on whichever successful pairs of glasses came out of the order, and I am still saving money over the boutique frames I always want to buy when I go through a brick and mortar optician. (I have expensive tastes in eyewear!)
I would be nervous using them for anything too finicky, unless the price point was low enough to allow me the same leeway.

Date: 2021-04-09 11:39 pm (UTC)I'm sure you have scores of stores selling artisanal glasses. Madison supports exactly one, where people take themselves very seriously.

Date: 2021-04-10 11:42 pm (UTC)Why can't our objects of fannish desire wear glasses? I guess Daniel Jackson does, but otherwise I can't think of any.
